So, it can be kind of confusing if you have never done a high-altitude trek in your life. But it isn’t a tricky question as well, however, the outfit requirement for the trek will also be influenced by the season of your visit.

So, if you have never done a trek in Nepal, the first thing that you need to understand is that there are a total of six climatic zones that you will have to go through during your trek. As even the most standard trekking route in Nepal elevates over the altitude of 5,000 meters, crossing six climatic zones is; lowest starting at 1,000 meters (tropical) and highest being over 5,000 meters (trans-Himalayan).

Autumn (September, October and November)

Remember, even if autumn is one of the peak seasons for trekking in Nepal. The climate is most stable from the mid-part of the season like spring. During the early part of the season, i.e. September, the weather is not stable, and if the monsoon is lengthy, the first part of the month will still receive rainfall.

So, you should prepare some rainproof layers if you are doing this trek during the early part of the season. Similarly, compared to the spring, the temperature is slightly more chilly during this season and you should pack a fair share of warm and insulated layers to keep yourself comfortable.

Off-Season Section

Monsoon (June, July and August)

Winter (December, January and February)

During the winter season, the temperatures at the higher altitudes are freezing and unbearable. Similarly, due to the heavy snowfall, most of the parts of the trail at higher altitudes are blocked with snow.

Your major for packing during this season should be mostly on heavy and insulated layers.
