Detailed itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival & Thimphu Welcome
Receive a warm welcome upon arrival in Paro and drive to Thimphu. Visit the majestic Buddha Dordenma (Buddha Point), explore the Traditional Paper Making Factory, stroll through the lively vegetable market, and pay homage at the Memorial Chorten, a revered stupa. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 2 – Thimphu to Punakha: New Year Celebration
Travel towards Punakha with a scenic stop at Dochula Pass (3,200m) for coffee amidst panoramic Himalayan views. Continue to a local Bhutanese home to celebrate the New Year in true Bhutanese style—sharing traditional meals, drinks, and festive activities with your host family. Overnight in Punakha.
Day 3 – Punakha to Paro: Culture & Photography
Drive back to Paro, stopping to hire traditional Bhutanese attire for photographs. Visit the National Museum to explore Bhutan’s heritage, and spend the evening strolling through Paro town’s charming streets. Overnight in Paro.
Day 4 – Tiger’s Nest & Farmhouse Dinner
Embark on the legendary hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), Bhutan’s most iconic landmark. In the evening, relax with an optional hot stone bath (self-pay) and enjoy a traditional Bhutanese dinner at a local farmhouse. Overnight in Paro.
Day 5 – Departure
Bid farewell to Bhutan as you transfer to the airport for your onward journey, taking with you memories of a uniquely Bhutanese New Year.
